Dream Big Midwest
Over the weekend I attended the Dream Big Midwest conference and was truly overwhelmed with joy at this year’s event. As most curvy girls in Chicago can confirm, conferences in Chicago are quite hard to come by. In fact, before this conference, there were no exclusive events like this in Chicago for plus size fashionistas. Usually, we’d have to pack up our bags, (like I did years ago) and travel to plus positive events. Here, I was able to gain insider information about the business of blogging, modeling, acting and makeup right here in Chicago!
What I Wore
Choosing what to wear was a no-brainer. I’d been dying to wear this interesting black body suit I purchased from Fashion Nova over a month ago. When I first saw it on the site, I wanted it because it gave me Beyoncé “Single Ladies” vibes. The cutouts, the 90’s neck detail, long sleeve in the cool summertime? Yes!
If you’re from Chicago, you know that the weather can change on you in a second! To dress for the lower seventies/upper 60’s breezy day, I wore long sleeves to accommodate the unnaturally chilly weather.
My Forever 21+ gold cuffs were the perfect accent to complete my Egyptian Goddess look. I topped it off with my Sands Neutral Clutch I got from a thrifting haul, and my Justfab pink sandals.
Congratulations to Natasha Williams, founder of DreamBigMidwest! I hope this conference becomes an annual staple in the Plus Size Industry in Chicago. Look out for another post with the deets on the panelists and their inspiring speeches!
